Saxophonist Duane Parham stands as one of Motor City’s most beloved jazz artists celebrated for his innovative contributions to Smooth Jazz, R&B, and Gospel Music. Born and raised in the heart of Detroit, Michigan, Duane has carved a distinguished 50-year career marked by collaborations with renowned musicians, performances at prestigious venues, and a remarkable body of musical work that spans across genres.

Throughout his illustrious career, Duane Parham has been applauded for his ability to seamlessly blend various musical styles, including jazz, blues, R&B, and gospel. This versatility has earned him critical acclaim and a dedicated fan base that transcends musical and cultural boundaries.

As a seasoned performer, Parham has graced the stage with his soulful saxophone at events headlined by notable Motivational Speakers such as Les Brown and Iyanla Vanzant. Additionally, he has opened for esteemed R&B and Soul singers Anita Baker, Martha Reeves, Freda Payne, and Spider Turner. Duane has also shared the spotlight with gospel greats like Michael Matthews, The Clark Sisters, Shirley Caesar, and Rance Allen.

Beyond the applause and cheers from audiences, Duane Parham has garnered recognition for his artistic excellence and civic contributions. His accolades include five Mayoral Proclamations of Achievement from Mayors Coleman A. Young, Dennis W. Archer Dave Bing as well as Mayor Martha G. Scott of Highland Park, MI.  He also received the “Spirit of Detroit” Award from the former Detroit Mayor Dave Bing for producing and arranging “Dream Detroit” and his documentary entitled “The Unsung Musicians of Motown Empire.  Parham was inducted into the Detroit Legends of Jazz Hall of Fame. These proclamations honor his outstanding accomplishments in the development of Music Arts and his significant contribution to the progress of both communities. 

However, Duane Parham’s impact extends beyond the stage and awards ceremonies. As the CEO of Educational Arts Society, he has demonstrated a genuine commitment to education and community engagement. Parham actively mentors aspiring musicians, conducts masterclasses, and participates in outreach programs designed to promote music education and inspire future generations of artists.
